Another Great Movie: Akeelah and the Bee

Here is another movie gem: Akeelah and the Bee.

In this feel-good story, eleven year-old Akeelah Anderson enters a South Central Los Angeles spelling bee to avoid detention. Dr. Larabee, played by Laurence Fishburn than coaches her for the regional bee. She attempts to go all the way to win the championship bee in Washington D.C. against well-coached competitors from around the U.S. This movie tactfully explores issues of education in the African-American community.

Hotel Rwanda is the improbable but true story of a man who worked tirelessly to save over 1,260 people. Don Cheadle stars in the true-life story of Paul Rusesabagina, a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsis refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide.

Some folks have called it the African version of Schindler's List, not quite as good -- but certainly not nearly as graphic -- yet incredibly powerful. A truly terrific film and highly recommended by the Brain Chain staff.

About Curio City:

The Mayor of Curio City hates to shop. Yet, like everyone else, he has to buy a seemingly endless series of gifts -- birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, weddings, and, of course, the winter holidays -- it's always something. The Internet has made shopping a lot easier than it used to be. But it's still frustrating to spend time plowing through junk merchandise, trying to interpret deceptive marketing text and doctored photographs, hoping that you're getting a decent deal from a reputable company.

Brain Chain Games, Inc. announced that Brain Chain's official price (the price the game is sold for on its own website) will be reduced for the 2006 holiday season. Brain Chain will now be sold for $34.95 through December 31, 2006 at which time the price may return to its typical $36.95. Brain Chain's retailing partners may continue to sell the game at their current price point.

Brain Chain's inclusion in GAMES Magazine's Top 100 List has seen Brain Chain's sales measure significantly higher and its hits skyrocket. Additionally, a number of articles has gained Brain Chain added publicity and our fans and customers have been terrific. We came to the decision to lower the price as a small gesture of appreciation to you all for making this a banner year for Brain Chain!

Brain Chain would like to congratulate AMCAL Housing, Inc. on its grand opening of Las Brisas Family Apartments, located at 87th & Main Street in South Los Angeles. Once again, AMCAL is making Los Angeles a better place to live and dramatically helping the local residents and their community! Alicia and I attended the grand opening to support AMCAL and its great work in our community. Former Los Angeles Chief of Police, Bernard Parks, gave a great speech as did all of the building partners in attendance.

The development includes 66 affordable family units in two four-story buildings designed
around a courtyard. Housing has street-front entry, increasing pedestrian activity on the sidewalk and creating a friendly and safe environment. Amenities include a clubhouse, tot

Brain Chain includes well over 3,000 questions and answers in eight different categories. Many of our customers tell us that the "Oddball" category is their favorite. Oddball questions require players to determine what three items have in common and pick out the "Oddball" -- much like the old Electric Company television show game -- except more challenging, and often, funnier!

For those of you who have not yet played Brain Chain, here are a few examples to get you started:
